Special Session on Immersive Technologies and Learning at the 8th CEEC Conference

Immersive Technologies, such as Virtual Reality (VR), Augmented Reality (AR), head-mounted displays, haptic devices, etc., give people a sense of “Being There”. They are used every day as standalone applications in areas such as computer games or telepresence video conferences among others. A particular use of these technologies is in educational settings, where they can enhance learning experiences, foster participation, collaboration, creativity and engagement; creating huge opportunities for integration and research. This session, organised as a special event of the 8th Computer Science and Electronic Engineering Conference (CEEC), aims at gathering not only leading researchers, but also young researchers as well as practitioners and developers in this field who research applications of Immersive Technologies in learning.

All accepted papers will be published on the IEEE Xplore as part of the proceedings of the 8th Computer Science and Electronic Engineering Conference (CEEC). Authors of selected articles will be invited to submit an extended version to a Special Issue of the Computers journal (http://www.mdpi.com/journal/computers/special_issues/ceec_2016).

Researchers are hereby invited to submit a full paper (5-6 pages) detailing their research or a short paper (max 4 pages), which describes their work-in-progress. All submitted papers will be subject to peer reviewing by at least two reviewers for technical merit, significance and relevance to the topics.

Submission implies the willingness of at least one author per paper to register, attend the conference and present the paper.

Papers should be prepared using the IEEE standard double-column format. Word and LaTeX templates are available below:

Paper submission

Authors can submit their contributions via EDAS, selecting the track “Special Session on Immersive Technologies and Learning″.  The paper submission is double blinded so the initial submission should not have the authors names on.

CEEC 2015 will take place on 28th – 30th September 2016 at the School of Computer Science and Electronic Engineering, based on the Colchester campus at the University of Essex (UK).

Colchester is Britain’s oldest recorded town and it was for a time the capital of Roman Britain. The town is 51.2 miles (82.4 km) northeast of London and is well-connected to the capital, which allows visitors to enjoy the attractions of both places.
