Heart of the City: Immersive Learning in Urban Environments
“More than 50% of the world’s population now lives in cities. Successfully navigating the colorful and incredibly diverse ecosystems of urban settings requires a refined set of skilled intelligence gained through experience. iLRN’s 2019 Conference in London, UK will be a unique opportunity for architects, urban planners, sustainability experts, and others focused on life and learning in the city to focus on the use of immersive learning environments for improving cities and people’s lives. Sustainable urban living, civic engagement, generative growth, city simulations and forecasts, transportation, food, water, energy, pollution, and waste systems, sensor networks, algorithmic design, and the intersection of virtually every other technological and socio economic trend on the planet with respect to urban environments are welcomed at iLRN 2019. Imagine if cities were designed with Augmented Reality, Virtual Reality and Cross Reality in mind. Consider how immersive digital environments may be used to help people better understand and create urban spaces. Come to iLRN 2019 and help establish the emerging community within our network focusing on urban environments.”

Selected high quality papers from the main track and from the special tracks will be published as full papers in Springer’s Communications in Computer and Information Science (CCIS) conference proceedings series (see also http://www.springer.com/series/7899); the acceptance rate for the Springer proceedings will be approximately 35 % of the submitted papers.

2. The remaining accepted contributions will be published in iLRN’s online proceedings volume with individually linked DOIs and an overall ISBN number. Please note that this proceedings volume is published by the publishing house of the Graz University of Technology (Austria) and is not yet indexed by SCOPUS. Previous years’ proceedings are available online at http://proceedings.immersivelrn.org.
3. Further, a select number of manuscripts published in either of the proceedings volumes will be invited to submit an extended version of their conference papers for publication in a special issue. Journal agreements for iLRN 2019 proceedings are underway. In previous editions, special issues were published in the Journal of Educational Computing Research (Social Sciences Citation Index. Journal Citation Reports impact factor 2016: 0.678) and in the Journal of Universal Computer Science (Journal Citation Reports impact factor 2017: 1.066).
About iLRN’s Annual International Conference
ILRN’s annual conference provides an intensive face-to-face opportunity for the emerging immersive learning professional community to collaborate and create the future of immersive learning and planting seeds of innovation locally in the education, technology, and entertainment sectors. ILRN conferences offer knowledge exchange and collaborative opportunities in scientific presentation streams, poster sessions and panels complemented with hands-on demonstrations and immersive local conference experiences. The iLRN Conference is, itself, designed to be an immersive learning environment making great use of the physical location and stocking it with immersive learning experiences across the Augmented, Mixed and Virtual Reality spectrum. We seek members of the iLRNetwork, itself, to propose Workshops and Special Tracks throughout covering emerging topics and trends relevant to the community. We are seeking K12, higher education, and workforce trainer practitioners to save the date and participate in iLRN 2019.
Continuing the previous success of iLRN events, this international conference series spans the topic range from innovative research, technologies and tools to successful services and products of immersive environments to foster learning, training and other activities in motivational and engaging ways. The objective is to uncover and discuss emerging trends and technologies, sound research and best practices, successful products and services within an international and interdisciplinary community.
