Accessing the iLRN Virtual Campus
Instructions for downloading/installing the iLRN Virtual Campus, powered by Virbela are available HERE.
Download and install the iLRN Virtual Campus application (available for PC or Mac). Important: This is NOT the same as the Virbela Open Campus application.
DOWNLOAD iLRN VIRTUAL CAMPUS APPLICATION
Launch the iLRN Virtual Campus application and create an account (or log in if you already have a Virbela account). Please note that it may take anywhere from a few seconds to several minutes for the application to download the required software updates/patches and other files.
The Virbela platform was selected by The Immersive Learning Research Network for its ease-of-use, scalability (easily up to 2,000 concurrent visitors possible!), and the capabilities for collaboration on a shared geography. No "Zoom Fatigue" and great, situated sense of virtual embodiment for "being there" with colleagues and friends! It’s also a great foundation and framework for our explorations and showcasing activities across The Metaverse! Our goal is to share our knowledge and make virtual and hybrid experiences & conferences enjoyable, social experiences for everyone. Our Virtual Campus Mgmt team is here to help make that a reality for your community event. We can provide expert advice and hands-on support for designing, coordinating and engaging attendees at your conference.
Event hosting on the virtual campus can range from small one-time groups meeting (e.g. student clubs, single class sessions, departmental meetings) to full use of the iLRN Campus island for a large multi-day event with simultaneous sessions, social networking sessions, games, poster or sponsor booths in the Expo Hall, keynote speakers, breakout sessions, and dances with live DJ's or social events on the beach.
Pricing is thus, dependent on the number of guests, the number of days, the number of spaces, and the degree of training you and your staff might need to ensure that the virtual campus event is a success. Interested in an event?
Email us info@immersivelrn.org with a brief description of your proposed event and we'll provide you a quote!
iLRN invites learning associations, colleges, universities, educational technology groups, and other like-minded organizations to join the iLRN Virtual Campus, where partners may invite students, faculty, and organizational members to experiment, collaborate, and learn together using the Virbela campus platform within the iLRN evidence-based and innovation ethos. The Immersive Learning Research Network shares this campus with such partner organizations in exchange for a donation to iLRN at fair market value and with the expectation that partners contribute their ideas, best practices, new routines, and “what works” in this new virtual learning environment in partial fulfilment of the iLRN mission.
In return, iLRN will serve our Virtual Campus Partners by cultivating cross-campus capacity and continuously innovating ways to increase student engagement based on feedback, collaborative input, and support from Virbela. Together, iLRN and our Virtual Campus Partners share a growing knowledge base and thus, enhance learning experiences for students of all kinds, everywhere.
Interested in becoming an iLRN Virtual Campus Partner? Email us at info@immersivelrn.org and we will arrange for a meeting to discuss possibilities and outline our current Pricing Sheet which can be downloaded HERE! (very competitive prices!)
The first time you log in, you will be prompted to design your avatar. Once you are happy with your avatar’s appearance, click the “Save and Exit” option at the bottom right corner. You will arrive at the Welcome Area (also known as the “Landing Pad”) of the iLRN Virtual Campus.
