The Immersive Learning Research Network (iLRN) is proud to announce a new virtual seminar series for the 2021 – 2022 Academic Year!
“Immersive Learning” Seminar will explore the science, application, and practice of Immersive Learning environments – investigating all angles of this exciting emergent discipline, from the technologies employed to create immersive experiences, to the psychological underpinnings of such constructs as presence, situated understanding, and psychological ‘flow’.
Predicated off of iLRN’s “Three Pillars” of Immersive Learning – that is:
(a) Computer Science;
(b) Game Design; &
(c) The Learning Sciences,
iLRN’s “Immersive Learning” Seminar will feature a special invited guest with expertise in some aspect of Immersive Learning.
TOGETHER, we will explore, showcase, and uncover the amazing possibilities of Immersive Learning technologies, design patterns, and pedagogies.
Join us on September 22nd from 6pm to 8pm Eastern (GMT -5) on the iLRN Virtual Campus in the lobby of the Tower of Immersive Learning 1 for the launch of this innovative seminar series with our inaugural Special Invited Guest, iLRN’s Honorary Co-Chair and primary advisor Dr. Chris Dede, Harvard University’s Timothy E. Wirth Professor in Learning Technologies!
Dr. Dede has been a primary influence, regular featured guest, and trusted advisor to iLRN and its predecessor, a Special Interest Group on Virtual & Immersive Learning at the American Educational Research Association (ARVEL then later ARiEL SIG). His influence on the creation and development of our network and on learning technologies everywhere is hard to overstate.
We are very happy and excited to host him for our kickoff of this exciting seminar series!
